The Role

The Assistant Accountant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations including data entry, invoice processing, bank reconciliation, and compliance activities. This entry to mid-level position plays a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records and assisting the senior accounting team in timely reporting and documentation. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, well-organized, and have a strong foundation in accounting principles.

Responsibilities.

  • Record daily accounting transactions including purchase, sales, expenses, and journal entries.
  • Assist in preparation and posting of invoices, debit/credit notes, and payment vouchers.
  • Perform bank reconciliation, petty cash management, and follow-up on receivables/payables.
  • Maintain and update ledgers, cash books, and other financial records.
  • Support in the preparation of monthly GST returns, TDS entries, and compliance reports.
  • Assist in internal audits, year-end closing, and preparation of financial reports.
  • Ensure proper filing and documentation of bills, vouchers, and statutory records.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal departments for invoice and payment-related queries.
  • Work under the supervision of the Accounts Head or Senior Accountant for various finance tasks.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance (M.Com preferred).
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Familiarity with Tally, ERP systems, and MS Excel is required.
  • Experience in GST, TDS, and basic compliance handling is preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Sound understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the accounting function.
