1080 X1080 WEB waste recycling

In response to the National Green Tribunal’s directive for scientific waste remediation, Mr. Manohar Kore, owner of Sagar Motors, was awarded a pivotal contract to carry out bio-mining operations at the Wariana Dumpyard in Jalandhar, Punjab. The goal: reclaim valuable land, recover reusable fractions from legacy waste, and minimize environmental impact through efficient segregation.

To tackle this complex and sensitive task, Sagar Motors turned to Taurian MPS for a solution that was not only reliable and productive but also mobile and low-footprint. Their choice—Taurian’s Terratrak Inclined Screen, purpose-built for demanding on-site separation applications.

Site Setting – The Wariana Legacy Waste Challenge

The Wariana Dumpyard, located on the outskirts of Jalandhar, had accumulated over 9 lakh metric tons of unsegregated municipal solid waste over two decades. The dump posed serious risks to groundwater, air quality, and public health. Remediation called for rapid deployment, accurate waste separation, and compliance with pollution control board norms, all while operating in a confined and odor-intensive environment.

The Challenge

Bio-mining operations are unlike conventional crushing and screening jobs. Waste composition is highly inconsistent—ranging from plastics, soil, construction debris, biomass, and inert materials—all in unpredictable proportions. Mr. Kore needed a mobile, high-capacity screening system that could be deployed directly at the dumpyard, survive rough terrain, and perform non-stop under extreme conditions with minimal human intervention.

The Solution

Taurian Terratrak Inclined Screen

After understanding the material profile and working constraints, Taurian recommended the Terratrak Inclined Screen, a rugged, track-mounted screening unit designed for field applications where quick setup, flexible mobility, and high throughput are critical.

Configuration Highlights:

  • Track-Mounted Mobility: Allows the machine to be repositioned across the dumpyard with ease, eliminating the need for civil foundations.

  • Heavy-Duty Screen Decks: Designed to handle diverse material—from soggy organics to dry C&D waste—with consistent separation efficiency.

  • Low Acoustic Emissions: Engineered with a sound-insulated engine canopy, ideal for urban and semi-urban waste sites.

  • Dual Power Mode (Optional): Provision to run on electric or diesel based on site infrastructure.

Results and Impact

The Terratrak Inclined Screen helped Sagar Motors process over 200 tons of legacy waste per day, enabling segregation into recoverable RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel), compostable material, and inerts. Its compact design and high maneuverability allowed seamless operation within tight dumpyard limits, drastically cutting down manual handling.

Over the span of 7 months, the Wariana site saw:

  • 45% volume reduction in waste

  • 70% material recovery rate across different fractions

  • Minimal downtime, even during monsoon spells

By exceeding project expectations, Sagar Motors earned recognition from local authorities and positioned itself as a leader in green waste management in Punjab.
