The Role

The Automation Engineer in the Service Department will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automation systems integrated within capital equipment and industrial machinery. This role requires expertise in PLC programming, HMI configuration, electrical systems, and on-site technical support. The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience with industrial automation platforms and a strong problem-solving approach in field service environments.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and calibrate PLC and automation systems at customer sites.
  • Troubleshoot control panels, wiring, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and automation-related faults.
  • Modify PLC and HMI programs based on project or site-specific requirements.
  • Provide technical support during breakdowns, upgrades, or retrofit projects.
  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical teams to ensure smooth integration of automation systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and ensure optimal performance of automation setups.
  • Document changes in logic, prepare service reports, and maintain records of automation systems.
  • Support remote diagnostics and provide training to customers on automation interfaces.
  • Travel 15–20 days/month to customer locations for commissioning and service visits.
  • Adhere to safety standards and protocols while handling electrical and automation systems.

 

Requirements

  • Education: Diploma or B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in industrial automation and PLC-based systems.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, or similar.
  • Experience in capital equipment, machinery control systems, or industrial service roles preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Proficient in PLC and HMI programming, fault diagnostics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Good understanding of industrial sensors, drives (VFDs), and control circuits.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work at project or customer sites.
